What if Sony hadn't released the PS2 a year before the box or the cube? How do you think sales would be at this point? Would Sony still be the leader in units sold?

It would've been possible. It all depends on when it would've been released.

I still believe that, because of the success of Live, the Xbox would've come out on top had they launched alongside the PS2.

The only reason PS2 sells a lot more is they sell craploads of PS2 in all kinds of countries, Xbox sales are low in almost every country but the U.S.

Sony would definitly be leader. Not at first, but gradually, with the release of the "slim" and the network adaptors that allow for free, unpaid online gaming. In fact, I feel it would be even more succesful had it been released later that it was.

Microsoft would have the one-uppie on the PS2 if they all had been released at the same time. People who had a Playstation 2 were already playing newer games, therefore rendering them useless to buy an Xbox. They obviously were too lazy, or dumb. You don't have to waste money on memory cards, and in my opinion, that's great. And my first console out of the three was actually a Gamecube, believe it or not. I got bored with it, and bought an Xbox. Still play old Xbox Only games. Great games. I haven't owned a PS2. But I did have a PS1, which didn't suck nearly as much....
Random outburst--- Rockstar went to hell in the graphics department with the start of Midnight Club: DUB Edition and San Andreas. Looks like some one took sandpaper to them....

Free online internet play doesn't mean a thing. If you buy a year's subscription to live, it's under $4.80 a month, and you get something you know is going to work better than the disjointed efforts of all Playstation 2 online games. I'll pay the $5 for Live, but that's just me.

I totally agree on that. I've played several PS2 games online at my friends' and non can compare to Xbox Live gaming.

I've done the same. It's true, Xbox does have better online games in GENERAL, but I've yet to see an XboxLive game that can compare with the shear awesome-rific-ation of MGO.
And it's free.
